Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi: The Man Who Saw the Redeemed Christian Church of God in a Vision(SUMMARY)
In the heart of Nigeria, a man with no formal education, unable to read or write in English, became the vessel through which one of the world's fastest-growing churches was birthed. Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi’s story is not just about religion—it’s about faith, obedience, and divine encounters.
From White Garment to Divine Calling
Pa Akindayomi started his spiritual journey in a white garment church, but he later felt led to break away. He gathered a small group of believers in his home, where they prayed and studied the Word of God. His hunger for divine truth led him to deeper encounters with God.
Though he couldn't read any book, something supernatural happened—he could read the first page of his Bible and hymn book and continue till the end. It was a divine mystery, proof that his calling wasn’t ordinary.
The Vision That Changed Everything
One night, he had a powerful vision where God showed him the name The Redeemed Christian Church of God. This was strange because he didn’t understand English. Yet, when he woke up, he wrote the name on the floor. The funny thing? He couldn’t read what he had written! So, he called someone to interpret it, and that’s how the RCCG was named.
From Polygamy to Divine Order
Before starting RCCG, Pa Akindayomi had more than four wives. But as he studied the Bible, Genesis 2:24 stood out: “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Convicted by this, he settled with his first wife and made things right.
The Covenant of Growth
God made a covenant with him that RCCG would spread worldwide. Many prophecies were spoken over the church, and today, RCCG has branches in over 190 countries!
The Miracle of the Empty Pot
Before his death, Pa Akindayomi and his household faced hunger. There was no food. But with faith, he prayed over an empty pot, and miraculously, food appeared. The only instruction was “Do not look inside the pot.” But curiosity got the best of his wife, and when she peeked, the miracle stopped.
The Transition to Daddy G.O.
Before passing in 1980, Pa Akindayomi prayed over Pastor Enoch Adeboye and handed RCCG over to him in 1981. Since then, RCCG has experienced explosive growth, fulfilling the prophecy.
Today, RCCG is a global church, but it all started with a man who couldn't read, write, or speak English—but could hear from God!
